Important Notice Regarding Church Announcements

news

From next Sunday the church announcement sheet will take the form of a MONTHLY bulletin.

All leaders of church organisations are therefore asked to have relevant announcements

for the month ahead with Rev Brownlow by Thursday evening (at the latest!)

A monthly prayer diary will also be available from next Sunday. If you have any suggestions for

inclusion with this, please email them to Rev Brownlow at dbrownlow@presbyterianireland.org

The E100 Bible Reading Challenge

graduate

‘E’ stands for essential, and the challenge is to read 100 carefully selected, essential, short Bible passages – 50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament over a six month period. The passages are usually one to two chapters in length and can be read in 10 minutes or less.

All you need to complete the challenge is:

  • A Bible (any translation you find easy to read)
  • 10 minutes, set aside each day to read
  • An E100 Planner*, to record your progress
  • A Reading Programme* to help you keep on track

* These will be available in the vestibule on Sunday morning

The readings for Week One are as follows:

IN THE BEGINNING
1          Creation                                   Genesis 1:1 – 2:25
2          The Fall                                    Genesis 3:1 – 3:24
3          The Flood                                Genesis 6:5 – 7:24
4          God’s Covenant with Noah     Genesis 8:1 – 9:17
5          Tower of Babel                       Genesis 11:1 – 11:9

Something else you might find helpful is the book, Essential 100: Your journey through the Bible in 100 readings. This resource will provide a daily commentary on your Bible readings and give you some tips on how to apply God’s Word to your daily life. (This is available from the Faith Mission Bookshop, Wesley Owen, or Amazon).

The apostle Paul was in no doubt about the value of knowing God’s Word and living by its teaching. He said, There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.” 2 Timothy 3:16 (The Message)

The E100 Bible Reading Challenge: Six months to read through 100 essential passages from the Scriptures. I encourage you to take up the challenge and develop a regular habit of spending time with God through Bible reading and prayer. As you do this, keep in mind the wise words of D.L. Moody who said, “The Bible was not given for our information but for our transformation.”

To complement our daily reading of the Scriptures, I will be preaching a series of sermons based on the E100 passages.
